What is a Buccaneer?

The term Buccaneer originated with a new type of adventurer in the 17th century. Although the term is now commonly thought of as the same as a pirate, its original meaning was quite different.

Pirates were criminals and operated only on the high seas, while Buccaneers were a legal extension of the state and operated in onshore and offshore environments. Buccaneers were employed by all the major powers of the day and were frequently commanded by officers from the sponsoring country's regular forces or by officers who were democratically elected by the Buccaneers as a group.

The Buccaneer captain was a special breed: He had to be a leader and a fighter, and in combat he was expected to fight alongside his men, not to direct operations from a distance.

With today's commodity prices, operators from small businesses to large independents find themselves awash in cash. But in this market, cash will frequently NOT buy critical services, completion hardware or drilling rigs. In fact, these items are in such short supply that the capability to deliver them into an equity deal assumes a financial value of its own.

Buccaneer Resources has stepped into this resource-constrained world and offers resources and capital to operators to suit their unique needs. Buccaneer Resources has negotiated special rates with a group of service, hardware and drilling rig providers. By working with Buccaneer Resources, your companies can access our network of equipment and service providers to find whatever resources you need to bring a development on line.

Currently seeking opportunities within the U.S.

We have secured access to properties in several of the hottest regions of the country and are seeking new opportunities to expand our portfolio. Opportunity type will be driven by the needs of individual operators. If an operator needs access to a drilling rig and can’t obtain one, Buccaneer can provide the rig and will enter the equity deal as a partner in exchange for the needed rig and other investment that may be called for to secure a position. As each operator’s needs vary, so will Buccaneer’s offerings. Today our focus is on land-based opportunity in the continental United States. Over the coming quarter we will expand this to include "brown-water" and "shallow-water" offshore applications in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
